Frome Town Football Club, 48 Berkley Rd, Frome BA11 2EH

It is known that Greyhound Racing took place in the Somerset town of Frome during August 1981. The venue lay in a meadow close to a railway bridge on Clink Road, one and a half mile northeast of Frome town centre.

The course was a temporary 250-yard straight track, Spot Grading was used to judge the hounds who would eventually contest behind a ball hare type lure. Little else is known regarding operations, and it is expected that the site returned back acting as a grazing meadow.

Looking at today’s maps, it is possible that the A361 trunk road may now dissect that meadow.

The Greyhound Owner newspaper reports unsuccessful attempts to bring greyhound racing to Frome during 1962. Above dated July 12th, below late August 30th.
