Victoria Football Ground, Tynedale Street, Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham TS18

The industrious town of Stockton-on-Tees is located four miles west of Middlesborough in the Northeast of England. It is known that Greyhound Racing took place at a number of venues in the town.

This chapter covers a less familiar one, which took place at the Victoria Ground, the home of Stockton Football Club. The venue had developed during the 1880’s with the intention of staging amateur football. With Stockton Football Club making it their home, the venue expanded large enough to have a capacity of 15,000.

At this moment virtually no information regarding Greyhound Racing is available, but it is known that the football club folded in 1975. The venue is now covered by housing and was situated at the end of Suffolk Street on an area called Wembley Way.

These three cuttings suggest that it could happen. But did it, as no further evidence regarding racing has been found.
