Brockey Hill roundabout (A5 / A41) London end, opposite garage

Probably one of the more known temporary Greyhound Racing venues in modern times was the Edgware Straights. Located roughly twelve miles northwest of London city centre, it staged its meetings in a meadow northeast of Brockley Hill roundabout which linked the coming together of the A5 and A410, opposite an Esso petrol station.

Operational dates are found during the late 1980’s and early 1990’s but no doubt its lifespan would more than likely have exceeded this. The hounds chased a drag hare over distances of 200 and 300 yards. It is not known when the venture ceased, the land continued operating as a sportsfield.

This Greyhound Owner advert is dated August 20th 1987.
