St Andrews Football Ground, Lincoln

It was during the mid 1960’s that greyhound racing featured at yet another venue in the city of Lincoln. This time it was at St Andrews football ground in the district of Sincil Bank, close to the city professional football club stadium, less than a mile south of the city centre.

Again, it was organised on a temporary license over the years between 1964 and 1968. Spot grading was used with the hounds chasing a ball type hare over a 240-yard course. My view is that events were staged on grassland alongside the Football Ground rather than inside, but this has yet to be confirmed.

This GO advert is dated May 28th 1964.
Two Greyhound Owner cuttings the above dated May 1968, the lower dated July 1969.
