Collins Lane, Purton, Swindon, Wiltshire SN5 4JR

It seemed the surrounding rural area of Swindon in Wiltshire became home to a good number of temporary greyhound tracks over the years.

This chapter describes the one on Collins Lane just outside the village of Purton. Purton lies three miles west of Swindon and it is known that the sport took place during May 1966 on a 350-yard straight course.

Further information remains sketchy, but it is thought that its location was along a long section of grazing land at the rear of Purton Working Men’s Club.

This advert is dated May 1966.
