It was during July of 1962 that an advert appeared in The Greyhound Owner newspaper, advertising Greyhound Racing at the seaside resort of Bridlington starting on 11 July 1962.
Bridlington lies on the North Sea coast between the holiday resort of Scarborough and the City of Hull, and 34 miles east of York. The advert refers to a venue known as Queensgate, the home of Bridlington Football Club, situated less than a mile north of Bridlington Harbour.
It seems the meetings were organised by a promoter known as Robinsons Promotions of Scarborough, the same promoter who had organised meetings at close by Malton and York. A 275-yard distance was laid out around a presumed two bend course, with a trackless Ball Hare system acting as the lure.
The venue still continues to host regular amateur football, yet the chance of any evidence of Greyhound Racing having taken place remains remote.
