St Andrew’s Street, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, IP33

Another temporary Greyhound Racing track found in the town of Bury St Edmunds was the one found off St Andrews Road just north of the town.

It was during April 1932 that a 400-yard two bend circuit was laid in a meadow to act as part of the Easter holiday attraction. No other information is found to show whether the gathering was repeated or not. It is in my opinion that this venue was staged very close to where the permanent flapping track lay which became known as The West Suffolk Stadium that opened in 1949.

This local press cutting is dated April 1932.
