Seven Acres, Haverhill, Suffolk

One of Haverhill’s Greyhound Racing gatherings is known to have taken place during September 1931 on a Sports field known as Seven Acres.

Haverhill lies 14 miles southeast of Cambridge, although the town does lie in the boundaries of Suffolk. The site of the greyhound track, Seven Acres was found less than half a mile northeast of Haverhill town centre, on a patch of land bordered by a railway line and the A143 Wrattling Road. Little else is known on how or how long it operated.

Today the site of The Seven Acres Sports field is covered by housing on Jaywick Road, Yarmouth Place and Yeldham Place.

This poor quality press cutting is dated September 1931.
