Louth Town Football Club, Park Avenue, Louth, Lincolnshire LN11 8BY
The small town of Louth adds itself to the long list of temporary Greyhound Racing venues, that once took place in the county of Lincolnshire.
The sport featured during the mid 1960’s at Park Avenue, the home of the town’s football club. Park Avenue had developed during the early 1960’s on a seven-acre section of land, with enough land to create two football pitches, one of which was used as a training pitch.
It is not clear on where the track was laid, but it is known that the hounds chased a ball hare type lure over a 325-yard course. The Park Avenue ground still exists today, although its present features are totally different from the days of dog racing and is found less than a mile east of Louth’s town centre.
