Another of the Scottish Football League grounds to encounter greyhound racing was Cappielow Park, the home of Greenock Morton Football Club. The venue had staged league football since 1879 having been built on grazing land close to the docks. It wasn’t until the summer of 1933 that a greyhound track was laid around the football pitch, before staging its first meeting on the 12th of August 1933. Little is known regarding events but it is believed that racing ceased during 1937. Today, Cappielow continues to host Scottish League football, but with improvements over the years the venue is a totally different place from the days of dog racing.
