Stebonheath Park,  Llanelli SA15 1EY

The Welsh town of LLanelli lies twelve miles north west of Swansea in Carmarthenshire, South Wales. It is known that greyhound racing took place in the town during the early 1930’s and would continue to do so during the 1940’s at a venue called Stebonheath Park.

Stebonheath Park still exists today, and is located about half a mile east of Llanelli town centre, and is presently the home of Llanelli Town Football Club. Little is known on how greyhound racing was staged at this venue, and is now almost 80 years since the sport was staged, so any remnants of the dogs remains very unlikely.

This caption dated March 10th 1933, shows that the sport was about to be staged for the first time at Stebonheath Park.

This newspaper cutting is dated April 1940.
This caption dated June 15th 1946 shows that racing would continue briefly after The Second World War.
