Nottingham Road, Ashby-De-La-Zouch, Leicestershire, LE65

The small Leicestershire town of Ashby-de-la-Zouch is located roughly twenty miles northwest of Leicester, and becomes another town that would host Greyhound Racing for a brief spell during the 1930’s.

Unfortunately, this paragraph does not reveal the exact location of the track, although one of the lower captions suggest it was adjacent to Nottingham Road which ran away northeast of the town. The caption also reveals its first ever meeting which took place on the 3rd of April 1931. Further investigation reveals that races were run over 200, 350, 550 and 525 yards, with meeting also consisting of Whippet Racing events.

Meetings were staged during early 1936 and with no further evidence found in the local press after the 12th of May meeting, it is presumed that this date was its last ever gathering.

This local press cutting is dated April 9th 1931.
