Wantage, Oxfordshire OX12

The market town of Wantage becomes another town that hosted greyhound racing on a temporary scale. Wantage is situated in the county of Oxfordshire roughly 15 miles southwest of the city of Oxford.

Adverts printed in The Greyhound Owner newspaper during the Summer of 1960 may prove that it was the towns one and only effort to promote the sport.

The track’s exact location still remains a mystery, but the adverts suggest that a horseshoe type track was laid, and therefore it is presumed that a trackless hare was used as a lure.
